My Story

After witnessing the devastating impact of cancer firsthand with the loss of close friends, I have made a profound decision—to take some action and do something positive other than simply despair. I've always loved a good challenge, so I've decided to embark on a courageous journey to climb Africa's highest peak in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. With each step up the towering summit, I am not merely conquering a mountain but also symbolising us overcoming the challenges that cancer presents to us all as a society.

Every donation received becomes a beacon of hope, funding vital resources and services for those battling this relentless disease or supporting loved ones through it.

Why Kilimanjaro?

I chose climbing Kilimanjaro as a worthwhile challenge after being inspired by Bonita Norris's keynote at the Forward Ladies Leadership Summit and Awards in 2023 about climbing Everest. Bonita was the youngest British woman to summit Everest.

Bonita's tale of resilience and triumph on the world's tallest peak ignited a flame within me—a determination to keep pushing beyond limits and make a meaningful impact no matter what.

It also seems poignant that another of my friends, who is also sadly currently battling breast cancer, symbolises her journey through chemo treatment to recovery as "A Climb To Everest Basecamp".

As an African, the call of Kilimanjaro resonates deep within me. While Everest may be the ultimate dream, Kilimanjaro holds a special place in my heart—a starting point for my journey of self-discovery and adventure.

So, this climb is a worthy challenge, not just for its towering heights but for the symbolism it holds—a testament to the power of human resolve and determination in the face of adversity.

How can you help?

As I prepare to conquer Africa's highest peak, I ask for your support in any way you can offer it. Whether through a donation, words of encouragement, or simply spreading the word about this endeavour, your contribution will fuel my steps up the mountain and the critical resources needed to support those affected by cancer.

Thank you in advance for reading and all your support.

I'm terrified as it is a physically daunting endeavour, but I know I can pull this off with your support and encouragement.

I'll be flying to Tanzania in August for the climb.

Wish me luck with the training.
